SUMMARY: Plans, implements and evaluates library programs and services which fulfill the diverse educational, recreational and personal needs of local children and teens.
- Conducts regular community needs assessments to identify children and teen’s needs, to create and deliver tailored services and programs to address identified needs.
- Provides prompt, courteous and direct assistance to patrons with basic information regarding use of library materials, equipment, and services.
- Ensures the library’s collections include relevant print, audio visual and digital resources aimed at the specific interests and needs of youth and families in the community.
- Participates in library special projects as required or as necessary.
- Develops and conducts programs for children and caregivers which encourage reading, viewing, and listening skills and the use of the library facilities and materials.
- Engages in outreach to schools, daycares and preschools, and other community organizations and agencies that serve children and their caregivers.
Education, certifications and Experience:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in education or liberal arts.
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program preferred.
- Library experience required.
- Experience in working for and with children (ages 0 – 18) and their families.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
Salary $28.88 – $34.66 Hourly
