School of Mines – Manager of Circulation and User Services

The Arthur Lakes Library at Colorado School of Mines is hiring for a Manager of Circulation and User Services. This position has a deep understanding of best practices and emerging trends in circulation, resource sharing services, and library customer relations and how they fit into the broader organizational mission. The person in this position develops standards and best practices, strategies, and workflows for the User Services section in accordance with library policies, professional standards, and university and state requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited program.
  • At least three years library circulation experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of and/or experience with library circulation software systems.
  • At least one year experience with hiring, scheduling, training, payroll, workflows, processes, and policies.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of and/or experience with Alma circulation software systems.
  • Experience working in an academic setting with faculty, staff, students, and members of the public.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging issues, trends, and best practices in the changing landscape of libraries, circulation, and customer service.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning. Ability to approach issues in a flexible and creative way, embrace ambiguity, adapt to change, and work successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations and values of inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, workflow development, and writing documentation.

Golden – Resource Sharing Coordinator (Library Technician III)

Colorado’s oldest public university, Mines, is located in Golden, Colorado, at the gateway of the Rocky Mountains, 13 miles west of downtown Denver and 21 miles south of Boulder.

Description of Job

The Resource Sharing Coordinator reports to the User Services Manager and will be joining the User Services team, which provides user-centered services (circulation, technology lending, course readings, and resource sharing). The Resource Sharing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of interlibrary lending as well as acting as the liaison between Collection Management and User Services.

This position is a full-time classified position (40 hours/week) and works on-campus. Flexible work arrangements can be negotiated, but position requires 75% on site work.

LIBRARY TECHNICIAN III

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Three (3) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position, such as:

• Experience with interlibrary loan technologies (e.g.,ILLiad, RAPID, OCLC)

• Understanding of or experience with integrated library systems (e.g., Alma, III)

• Understanding of interlibrary loan practices and processes, particularly in an academic environment

• Experience working with customers, particularly in an academic environment

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or demonstrated experience in the use of library catalogs, databases, and web search platforms equal to three (3) years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Time management skills

• Ability to conduct time-sensitive research

• Ability to work independently

• Experience working in library circulation services and/or collection management environments

Fort Lupton – Youth and Family Services Librarian

SUMMARY:  Plans, implements and evaluates library programs and services which fulfill the diverse educational, recreational and personal needs of local children and teens.

  • Conducts regular community needs assessments to identify children and teen’s needs, to create and deliver tailored services and programs to address identified needs.
  • Provides prompt, courteous and direct assistance to patrons with basic information regarding use of library materials, equipment, and services.
  • Ensures the library’s collections include relevant print, audio visual and digital resources aimed at the specific interests and needs of youth and families in the community.
  • Participates in library special projects as required or as necessary.
  • Develops and conducts programs for children and caregivers which encourage reading, viewing, and listening skills and the use of the library facilities and materials.
  • Engages in outreach to schools, daycares and preschools, and other community organizations and agencies that serve children and their caregivers.

Education, certifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in education or liberal arts.
  • Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program preferred. 
  • Library experience required.
  • Experience in working for and with children (ages 0 – 18) and their families.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required. 

Salary $28.88 – $34.66 Hourly

Full Time Teen Librarian.

Experience working with children (preferred) and experience teaching complex technology (preferred). One Year of experience required in public library work or a closely related field requiring extensive public contact in person and on the phone.
